Saturday - May 24, 2008 Memorial Day Mountain Style Chile Cook Off

Come enjoy yourself & have some fun - horseshoe tournament - beard contest - chili cooking & tasting

Annual Mountain Style Chile Cook-Off
Ponderosa

1.             Participants provide their own cooking source.
2.             All preparation must be done at the cook-off.
3.             Each participant will provide a list of ingredients before competition begins.
4.             No pre-mixes – all ingredients should be in original containers
5.             All chili except vegetarian chili prepared with NO beans.  After one quart prepared on site is reserved for judges, canned or precooked beans and/or pasta may be added for public tasting.  (See Item 11)
6.             Meat if used may be ground or chopped before the competition.  Only meat purchased from government inspection sources.  Wild game must be approved by the judges.
7.             ENTRIES may be GROUPS, ORGANIZATIONS OR INDIVIDUALS.  Prize for BEST-LOOKING BOOTH!
8.             Only one entry per person/organization or group.
9.             Each contestant will prepare a minimum of 4 quarts of chili.

10.        SCHEDULE

9:30 – 10:00 A.M.          Inspection of ingredients and LAST CHANCE REGISTRATION

1:00 P.M.                         Chili tasting by the Crowd
                                                      (Ponderosa Lodge will supply cups and spoons)

1:30 P.M.                         JUDGING BEGINS (Have 1 Quart for Judges)

2:00 P.M.                         Announcement of Winners

(JUDGED ON BEST AROMA, BEST APPEARANCE AND BEST FLAVOR.  SPECIAL AWARDS FOR VEGETARIAN, “LOW-FAT” AND BEST WILD GAME)

11.        COOKING TIMES MAY VARY WITH THE CLIMATE AND ALTITUDE.
